Turnagain News Editorial

Today marks an exciting day for us at the Turnagain News as we are on our way to redefining what a community news publication can achieve. We've approached this publication with fresh eyes and an open mind, determined to shake things up and create a news source that truly serves and represents the local community.

The Turnagain News is a non-profit, non-partisan, independent multi-media source serving Southcentral Alaska. We are bringing innovation through our affiliation with the Institute for Non-Profit News, commonly referred to as INN, representing more than 400 news organizations across the country. Our vision is to provide a news network that ensures all people have access to trusted news. We will start as a digital paper and progress to paper editions during the peak seasons—both at no subscription cost to the reader.

We're committed to putting the power of the press back into the hands of the people. We believe that the power of the local newspaper lies in its ability to build strong and informed communities and be a reflection of the people and ideas that make them unique. The Turnagain News will tell stories that otherwise would go untold—connecting and informing our communities.

We will report on the people, places, events and issues that matter most to you—topics such as healthcare, sports, natural history, environment, arts and education. We will promote civic participation and embrace diverse viewpoints and cultures. We will be bold, accurate, and honest in our reporting, and unafraid to hold those in power accountable for their actions.

The Turnagain News will not just be a news source to inform, it will be a place that brings people together, celebrates the achievements of locals and shines a light on the challenges faced by the community.

We hope this revitalized approach to journalism will encourage more dialogue, provide increased transparency, and bring life back to the communities we serve.

Our editor, Soren Wuerth, with his editorial and advisory staff are thrilled to begin this journey with you so please stay tuned for more great content from the Turnagain News.
